About the Press

Sunflower State Press is a home for Kansas political coverage and perspective. We follow decisions at the Statehouse, in local government, in the courts and on the campaign trail, then connect those decisions to the people and communities they affect. Kansas is the center of the story here.

What we cover

Politics is more than an election result. Our articles look at schools, health care, agriculture, jobs, housing, elections and the cost of living. We follow what candidates promise, what officials do and how public policy changes daily life.

That includes questions close to home: who pays for new energy demand, whether rural communities can reach care, and how families and schools fare when budgets are written.

Our approach

We publish articles and perspectives with a clear point of view. Our aim is to make the argument understandable, show the sources behind it and separate a proposal from a result. Readers should be able to see both the facts at issue and why we think they matter.
